Learning the Katonah Magic Square - June 15, 3:00 - 5:00pm at Yogaleena, Houston, TX
The Katonah practice is designed to make us well-adjusted and well rounded. The “magic square” is based on an ancient Chinese grid of numbers which can be used as a tool in your yoga and meditation practice to find your center, explore your circumference, and navigate your body and your life more efficiently.
In this workshop we will learn the basics of the magic square and explore its use in the body and the practice as a means to become more well oriented in poses, to explore unknown territory, and to better integrate the body and mind.
Developing a Pranayama Practice - Saturday June 22 - 3:00 - 5:00pm at Yogaleena, Houston TX
When we practice asana (the physical postures) we learn to make our body into a cup that can hold energy and make us substantial. When we practice Pranayama, we fill the cup. When we practice meditation, we drink from the cup.
Prana is the energy and life force that sustains the body and makes us feel healthy, happy and whole. Pranayama is a series of breathing exercises intended to strengthen the lungs, nourish the organs, and balance the nervous system. Students will leave this workshop energized and equipped with practical breathing practices to incorporate into their daily routine.
The Art of Body Reading - Saturday June 29 - 3:00 - 5:00pm, Yogaleena, Houston, TX
The art of reading bodies is as practical as it is mystical. The habitual patterns in which we move and rest our physical structure can reveal a lot about our mental, emotional, and spiritual states. This workshop will teach you to really SEE a body and use maps to read, orient, and effectively navigate the physical practice.
We will learn both techniques to use in our own bodies and in assisting others.This workshop is highly useful for yoga teachers and yoga students alike.
